About me

Austin-based cellist, composer, and producer Alexis Wolfe oscillates between the worlds of classical composition and electronic experimentation. She holds a degree in Cello Performance from the University of Texas at Austin, along with intensive training in electroacoustic composition and production through the Experimental and Electronic Music Studio at the Butler School of Music. After performing internationally with various classical ensembles, Wolfe now focuses on composing and performing original works throughout the Austin area, exploring the artistic possibilities that emerge through the interaction of traditional instrumental practice and contemporary technology.

 

A central focus of Wolfe's creative research is the relationship between music and mental health, exploring how psychological conditions shape musical perception, expression, and experience, and how music, in turn, influences cognitive and emotional states. Through this lens, Wolfe approaches composition not merely as artistic production, but as a means of examining consciousness, identity, and human connection.

 

Wolfe's work in experimental electroacoustic music bridges the tactile and the technological, using sound as a space for reflection, transformation, and discovery. Through the integration of live performance, electronic manipulation, and sonic experimentation, Wolfe creates immersive environments that challenge conventional boundaries between artist, audience, and space. The resulting works invite listeners into deeply experiential encounters where sound functions simultaneously as material, medium, and inquiry.
